I remember when I was in Mithibai, there was a guy in my class who would come to college on his cycle wearing Hawaii Chappal. My dear friends would all call him "chappal" and my heart would go out to him. He made such a sorry picture. What a horrible prejudice. And I am not to be spared either. I felt Sorry. How condescending is that !! Feeling sorry for someone because he wears chappals !!!!

I hope I have learnt better in life. But till date there are somethings I just cant stand. Pure white sneakers being topmost among them. Whats worse is desi guys wearing khakis and then white sneakers. Sneakers with khakis is a No-No.. and then they go and wear WHITE !!!!! And then a ill fitting Tee tucked in showing off their increasing prosperity. What a put off !!!!

I was at the INS getting fingerprinted today, and I see three such. Undoubtedly Indian. No one else in the world dresses like that !

:-) ;-)

Cupid Strikes

Yesterday was one of my best friend's birthday. And she chose the the best day to give me the best news. She is getting engaged !!!! Soon after I hear that my dearest dearest friend and once true love actually went down on his knee and said the golden words. Spring wedding for them. And not much later I hear that two of my really good friends here discovered that they were meant to be more than just best friends. :-) !!!

What an amazing day. Love is in the air !!! Happy Happy feelings !!

Budgetary Woes

Even as I complain about my lack of great savings thanks to my extravagant lifestyle ( which i grudgingly admit is an addiction and with conviction state that is not evil but simply an expression of my love for luxury) India has announced its fiscal plans for the next five years. Have been reading a lot of diverse opinions on the same. My political beliefs make me tend towards the Left. But I am wary as many Rightists are, about how much of socialist reforms in India actually percolate down to where it belongs. "You cant stengthen the weak by weakening the strong"- Anon goes a famous quote. But when it comes to money, I think that is the way of distributing power. Given transparant and efficient disribution methods ofcourse !. I am very pro red-tax that makes 2percent of all cess go towards primary education and mid-day meals for children. I do hope it makes it all the way down to them. Illiteracy is a bigger curse than poverty.

Am reading a very interesting book India: A wounded Civilization by V.S. Naipaul. His perception of India, its people and its mindset is not one that any Indian would be very happy reading. But I think its a really good read. Gives you a whole new perspective on why we are the way we are. A lot of the things that my mom and I have often discussed at home. Facts that I have often deliberately chosen to interpret differently, simply out of a sense of patriotism.

I know a couple of people. Their life seems so perfect. They are always there at the right place at the right time. They seem to get everything they reach out for. Or often what most people reach out for. Like playing lotto. They always have the number thats being called out. And I look at my ticket and wonder.... Now where did I screw up. !!!!!

I love seattle. Green and blue and grey. All blending into one breathtaking landscape. The mountains always seem to welcome me with their arms open. Mother Earth. I have been there before. Lost and seeking . And it gave me more than I had asked for. :-)
I go there again tonight. To breathe. To find my space. I need a break from everything that is here. The sun, the sands, the browns, the people. I come to you again Seattle.
