From Chithi to Junnie,
Birthday wishes for you,
One for this year,
And one forever too.

A jedi light saber,
For your battles at 5,
Courage and wisdom,
To carry you through life.

A frosted chocolate cupcake,
To make you smile today,
A million other little joys,
To keep it that way.

If I could bend a rainbow,
I would have brought that too.
Had the birds all sing
Happy Birthday to you.

For now we settle, my little ninja,
My knight in shining armour,
With loads and loads of love
today and forever.

Only a dad with a tired face,
Coming home from the daily race,
Bringing little of gold or fame
To show how well he has played the game;
But glad in his heart that his own rejoice
To see him come and to hear his voice.

Only a dad with a brood of four,
One of ten million men or more
Plodding along in the daily strife,
Bearing the whips and the scorns of life,
With never a whimper of pain or hate,
For the sake of those who at home await.

Only a dad, neither rich nor proud,
Merely one of the surging crowd,
Toiling, striving from day to day,
Facing whatever may come his way,
Silent whenever the harsh condemn,
And bearing it all for the love of them.

Only a dad but he gives his all,
To smooth the way for his children small,
Doing with courage stern and grim
The deeds that his father did for him.
This is the line that for him I pen:
Only a dad, but the best of men.

To the shrieks of joy that Mowgli gives out when his appa comes home. And of course to the one who made this life of mine possible - my own Appa.

Free..

Watching Scrubs rerun last night. It ended with "Nothing in life worth having comes easy." Coolboy remarks "True." I say "Whatever happened to 'The best things in life are free.'"? He says " Ferrari car is not free, Icecream is not free." "Sunshine is !." I retort. "Have you seen our tax bill ?" he asks. "Mowgli's love is free" I say. "Are you sure ?" he asks. "Mm hmm" I smile unconvincingly. " For now atleast it is" I assert. He get up and turns off the TV. "What happened ? " I ask. "I have to work." "Hmm. okay. I have to sleep. Catch you when you are free :)".
